The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.

Perhaps these lines may be read by some believers who by reason of age and sickness are no longer able to work actively in the Lord’s vineyard. Possibly in days gone by, you were a teacher, you were a preacher, a Sunday-school teacher, a tract-distributor: but now you are bed-ridden.
Yes, but you are still here on earth! Who knows but what God is leaving you here a few more days to engage in the ministry of prayer—and perhaps accomplish more by this than by all your past active service. If you are tempted to disparage others such a ministry, remember your Saviour. He prayed, prayed for others, prayed for sinners, even in His last hours.

Pray About It: No one is left on earth without a work they can do. For the invalid, that work is intercessory prayer, which is, interestingly, the highest work of all. Don’t let seeming catastrophes, illness, or weakness rob you of your usefulness. God needs prayers. For this reason He has put you in a place on the front lines of His work.
Use your sickness to glorify God. Be a stalwart prayer warrior. Dwight Moody insisted that his success was due to the prayers of an obscure invalid woman who interceded for him.
If you’re healthy, remember the sick today. Pray for them, call them, and give God thanks for your own good health.
Lord, let me not live to be useless.
