Magnificent Prayer #284
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Acts 2:42
Of this I am fully persuaded: With a once-a-week prayer meeting, no church (here or in any other place, at this or any time) is going to get us a heavenborn, Spirit-operated revival. Before “Pentecost was fully come,” the disciples prayed; and as they were praying, the Spirit fell upon them; after Pentecost we discover that twenty-eight chapters in Acts mention prayer, for they “continued in prayer,” says the record.
We need prayer to obtain victory and then prayer to maintain victory. We need to pray about our praying; we must pray unction upon others as they are praying. We must pray alone; we must pray together; we must pray in the night and not cease in the day.

Pray About It: In times of prosperity, we tend to pray less. We aren’t as needy as we are when times are rough. Will it take the onset of hard times to get the church of God to praying? Will it take hardship in our own life to persuade us to pray? If times are good, continue in prayer, thanking God and gaining strength. There may be lean times ahead. Don’t be caught short in that day.
When Dwight Moody was aboard a ship that was in turbulent waters, he was asked to join others in prayer for deliverance. His simple reply was, “I’m prayed-up already.”
