Magnificent Prayer #273
Magnificent Prayer #273
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
1 Peter 1:6–7
In one thousand trials, it is not five hundred of them that work for the believer’s good, but nine hundred and ninety-nine of them, and one beside.
GEORGE MUELLER
Pray About It: Great pray-ers are often men and women of great trials. The two seem to go hand in hand. But there’s a third partner to the triangle of prayer—and that’s great victory. Those who would enjoy the latter must also have the other two. George Mueller was once asked how to have strong faith. The old prayer warrior replied, “The only way to learn strong faith is to endure great trials. I have learned my faith by standing firm amid severe testings.”
If severe testing is your lot in life, that means God has designed great victories to accompany those trials. Rejoice that God has allowed you the same pathway that He’s chosen for His choicest saints.
All one thousand of your trials are meant for good. Such knowledge should provide you great courage and speed your prayers to the Father’s throne.
Our difficulties, our trials, and our worries about tomorrow all vanish when we look to God.
