For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

No advance in the spiritual life can be realized without the foundation of the Cross. Before the Holy Spirit’s intercession prayer-life can be truly known, we must be shown by Him how to stand in the position of Christ’s death, and by His working let the death of Christ be applied experientially.

Pray About It: We pray because of the work of the Cross. First, the fact that in history, Christ died for the sins of humankind gives us access to God. But secondly, the Cross must also work experientially in our own lives.
The Cross is the ground from which we pray.
God answers prayer on the ground of Redemption and on no other ground.
