Magnificent Prayer #193
Magnificent Prayer #193
Do not neglect your gift.
1 Timothy 4:14
Whenever we live prayerless lives we are neglecting, we are vacating, our office. What would we think if we went downtown in one of our cities, only to find desks closed and office doors locked, businessmen neglecting their office, the work they have undertaken? It is no different with Christians when they are neglectful of prayer. The work to which they have been officially called and appointed remains undone.
Moreover, we are not alone in this work. When Jesus ascended on high, it was to take upon Himself the office-work of High Priest. It is an office with a real work, an age-long task—“He ever liveth to make intercession.” In appointing us to the office of priests He is privileging us to share His work. He asks us to take part of it upon ourselves. This is just what we do when we engage in prayer. How glorious the task! Surely we will not neglect it.

Pray About It: The specific prayer life to which you are called is glorious. It is your assignment, your gift. We must not vacate our posts of prayer. The task is magnificent, the rewards—both here and in eternity—are beyond description.
Take up your office today with joy.
Every work of God can be traced to some kneeling form.
