Magnificent Prayer #174

Magnificent Prayer #174

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.

Romans 10:1

Pray for the Jews. Their return to the God of their fathers stands connected, in a way we cannot tell, with wonderful blessing to the Church, and with the coming of our Lord Jesus.

ANDREW MURRAY

Pray About It: God has not rejected the Jews. Jesus Christ was a Jew as were the first Christians. The Messiahship of Jesus is for the Jews first, then for the Gentiles. The apostle Paul made praying for his Jewish brethren a priority. The great churchman Andrew Murray understood the heart of God toward the Jewish people. Corrie ten Boom is widely known for her book The Hiding Place, which tells the story of the price her family paid for hiding Jews in their home during the Holocaust of World War II. But the Ten Boom family had loved the Jewish people long before Corrie was born. In fact, her story may have been an answer to a century-old prayer. In 1844, Corrie’s grandfather began a prayer meeting specifically for the purpose of praying for the Jewish people. It was exactly a hundred years later that Corrie and her family were arrested.

Today, many missions organizations are dedicated to winning Jewish people to Christ. Pray for them and for the peace of Jerusalem, the city where Jesus commanded that the good news be preached first. God’s directive to pray for Jerusalem has never been countermanded. And it’s never been more necessary than today.

Lord Jesus, I offer myself for your people. In any way. Any time.

CORRIE TEN BOOM

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Psalm 122:6
