Magnificent Prayer #16
Magnificent Prayer #16
Yet not my will, but yours be done.
Luke 22:42
Spread out your petition before God, and then say, “not my will but yours be done.” The sweetest lesson I have learned in God’s school is to let the Lord choose for me.
DWIGHT L. MOODY
Pray About It: In the early stages of our Christian life, our prayers are often remarkably similar to a child’s Christmas list for Santa Claus. We want this; we think we need that. But then as we grow in Christ and we see God answer prayers His way, our prayers change. Like Dwight L. Moody, we have learned to let God make our choices for us.
Today, let your will be set aside. Remove yourself from making the choice. The results will indeed be sweet when you allow the Lord to choose for you.
Being of one mind and spirit with Him in His giving up everything to God’s will, living like Him in obedience and surrender to the Father; this is abiding in Him; this is the secret of power in prayer.
