God’s Love

God’s Love

When I realize that God is always with me

Reading the Word

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38–39).

Talking to God

Lord Jesus,

When I read this startling passage in Romans, I am humbled and, frankly, amazed that you love and care for me so much. Thank you, Lord, for this promise that nothing—no power, no person, no circumstance, no feeling, no sin—can separate me from you and your love. I admit that at times I feel distant from you, that we aren’t close. But that’s on me. In fact, you are always in me and with me even through my feelings seem to say otherwise. You know I’m a worrier, especially about what might happen “tomorrow”—health, relationships, deadlines, finances, world events, and more. At times my worries rob me of sleep and make me hesitant, almost fearful, to face the day. But why do I let those concerns come between us? If the “powers of hell” can’t separate us, why do I think anything else can? I need to believe this truth and live on it. And I need no other proof than the fact that you gave your life for me. Thank you that I can never be lost to your love.
