The Buck Stops Here
The Buck Stops Here
We are called to give up our lives, as Jesus gave up His life for us, for the purpose of training, loving, and preparing our children for life—eternal life. Jesus had a pretty strong opinion about what we would face if we willingly put our children in harm’s way! We are not mature Christians if we’re seeking to get rid of the “burden” of having children by handing the training of them to others. It is our responsibility to care for our children’s souls, presenting Jesus to them in hopes that they will choose to follow Him.
It seems that these days, women are not being taught that choices have consequences—that their children’s hearts, minds, morals, and future lives are dependent on the vision and faithfulness of mothers in this generation.
“What does it profit a mom to gain the whole world and lose her children’s souls?” (my paraphrase of Mark 8:36).
If mothers do not take initiative now to be personally responsible for their children, we will never see a future generation of adults with excellent character, biblical convictions, and leadership qualities. We will not have children who have learned that family is important, that marriage is of great value to God, and that we are responsible for the world hearing the truth in our generation.
And yet, these truths are foundational to society! There is no better use of our time than to pour our lives out for God, both within our homes and without.
His Promises
Get up, for it is your duty to tell us how to proceed in setting things straight. We are behind you, so be strong and take action.
And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. I am so glad that you always keep me in your thoughts, and that you are following the teachings I passed on to you.
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
