A Thousand Little Moments - Leaning on the Promises of God for Moms
A Thousand Little Moments
As mothers, our days are made up of thousands of little moments, insignificant to the public eye: changing one more diaper, listening to the heart’s cry of one more teenager, encouraging our spouses through one more year of financial difficulty, living through one more season of faith when it all has felt overwhelming.
Isolation and loneliness are aching companions at different times—feeling that we don’t fit in with many people—feeling lost in the storms of life.
Other times, we feel as though we might drown from the weight of our children’s lives: trying to keep them afloat; struggling with differing personalities; meeting their needs, answering their spiritual demands; and bearing with them through very difficult seasons like the sleepless nights of babyhood and the mysterious years of toddlerhood, all the trials and joys of elementary school, teenage storms, and young adult decisions and pressures.
Yet somewhere, deep inside, God gave us a tenaciousness to keep going through the storms, to keep trusting Him, to keep believing Him, to have faith that He is good, even when we don’t feel His presence.
Integrity in these seemingly insignificant moments will become the measure of integrity over a lifetime and build a picture of faithfulness for others to recall when they go through their own hard times: “Oh, I remember—Mom kept going. She kept loving. She kept believing. I guess I can too. Her story is my foundation for encouragement.”
Keep going. Keep loving. Keep believing. You can—because He does.
His Promises
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.
He heals the brokenhearted
and bandages their wounds.
Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
