Richer By The Word
Richer by the Word
When I was coaching, I made a point to have regular Bible studies and chapels for our players and our staff. Game weekends always included a chapel service for which we would have a speaker come in and share a message from Scripture.
Our hope in those settings, as should be the case with any Bible study or prayer group, was to continually plant the empowering and affirming message of Christ in the listeners’ hearts and then allow that message to work according to God’s purposes in each of them.
How might that look in the various settings of your life? Perhaps at home it starts with prayer in the morning with your spouse and then individual prayer with your children. An encouraging word as your spouse heads out the door to the office or as you drop your children off at school.
Maybe it’s getting in the habit of offering an encouraging and kind word to others. Or simply not being a participant in the group gossip session at the watercooler.
Wherever you find yourself, consider ways you can let the word of Christ dwell within you and others.
His Promises
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
Where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.
Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
