Growing More Steady And Confident

Growing More Steady And Confident

Lord, how can I feel secure and steady despite life’s twists and turns?

How joyful are those who fear me and delight in obeying my commands. Such people do not fear bad news; they confidently trust me to care for them. They will no longer be immature like children. They won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. Instead, they will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ.

Psalm 112:1, 6-7; Ephesians 4:14-15

How can I develop deeper confidence in you?

Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse, because it is built on bedrock. Trust in me always, for I am the eternal Rock.

Matthew 7:24-25; Isaiah 26:4

How can I pray for a strong foundation that is built on trust in you?

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.

Psalm 143:10

God promises that those who trust in him will experience joy and confidence even when life feels overwhelming. Do you long for this kind of stability? God’s unchanging eternal nature is a firm foundation—the most secure place to anchor your hope. Are there places where your foundation isn’t solidly attached to the Lord? What are the rains, winds, and floodwaters in this season of life that make you feel unsteady? Ask the Lord this morning how you can be more like the house that won’t collapse—one with a foundation built on the eternal Rock.
