Build Each Other Up

Lord, what is the key to building strong relationships with other believers?

You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial. Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others. You must not just please yourself. You should help others do what is right and build them up in me.

How can I build up other believers?

Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is my will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

What can I pray about my relationships?

God, who gives patience and encouragement, help me live in complete harmony with others, as is fitting for your followers. Then we can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to you, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you know someone who is good at encouraging others? Investing in other believers means thinking about what is helpful to them. Others are built up when you show the same love and thoughtfulness that Christ shows you. What is a step you can take today to invest in another believer? Is there someone you can mentor? A person you can pray for? Someone who needs to receive an encouraging text or email?
