Who’s Driving Your Life? - In the Evening When I Rest

Who’s Driving Your Life?

Lord, I’m feeling lost right now. Can you get me back on track?

Come back to me and live! Listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful. I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do what is right and good in my sight, so all will go well with you. I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.

Amos 5:4; Proverbs 8:32; Psalm 32:8; Deuteronomy 6:18; Amos 5:24

How can I live purposefully as I wait to see how you work in me?

I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for me, for you know that nothing you do for me is ever useless.

John 15:5; 1 Corinthians 15:58

How can I pray for purposeful direction?

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. I cry out to you, God Most High. You will fulfill your purpose for me.

Psalm 57:1-2

When you’re in a season where God seems quiet, it’s easy to feel as if your life has no direction. But these verses remind us that even when we feel lost, we are not lost to God. Find a moment to sit in your car—on the passenger side. Use this as a prayer moment to surrender to God and invite him to steer your life in the direction he wants it to go. Thank him for your ultimate eternal destination and that he can be trusted to pick out the best route between here and there.
