The Importance Of Staying Connected
The Importance Of Staying Connected
Lord, what is the spiritual danger of constantly being connected to technology?
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let me transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know my will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Romans 12:2; Philippians 4:8
What kind of boundaries should I have for technology and social media?
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial. So be careful how you live. Don’t live like a fool, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
Proverbs 4:23; 1 Corinthians 10:23; Ephesians 5:15-16
What can I pray to help me use technology and social media well?
I have received your Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so I can know the wonderful things you have freely given me. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide my life. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within me, may I carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to me.
1 Corinthians 2:12; Galatians 5:16; Psalm 143:8; 2 Timothy 1:14
Constant connection to technology can distract us, make us poor listeners, and compromise our ability to connect deeply with others. Assess your use of technology and how it affects your relationships. How can you more regularly detach from technology, especially social media, in order to be fully present with God and others?
