Is The Pressure Getting To You? - In the Evening When I Rest
Is The Pressure Getting To You?
Lord, what is an example from your Word of someone being overcome by the pressures of life?
Moses said, “When a dispute arises, the people come to me, and I am the one who settles the case between the quarreling parties. I inform the people of God’s decrees and give them his instructions.” “This is not good!” Moses’ father-in-law exclaimed. “You’re going to wear yourself out—and the people, too. This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself.”
Exodus 18:15-18
What can I do when a burden is too much to carry all by myself?
Select some capable, honest individuals who fear me and will help you carry the load, making the task easier for you. If you follow this advice, you will be able to endure the pressures. But you must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of your Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in my love.
Exodus 18:21-23; Jude 1:20-21
What can I pray when I’m under pressure?
Do not stay so far from me, LORD, for trouble is near, and no one else can help me. O LORD, do not stay far away! You are my strength; come quickly to my aid! Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Help me, O LORD.
Psalm 22:11, 19; Psalm 30:10
Are you in a season where the demands of life are far too much for you to handle? Moses’ father-in-law gave good advice: Delegate and ask for help! If you are feeling burdened, ask someone for assistance. Can you delegate a task at work? Can you ask your spouse or a child for help around the house? Is there a friend who can come over and lighten your load?
