Growing In Trust
Lord, what does it mean to trust you?
You love me even though you have never seen me. Though you do not see me, you trust me; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear me and turn away from evil. Just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your life be built on him.

What is the result of trusting you in this way?
Your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. The reward for trusting me will be the salvation of your soul.

What can I pray to trust you more?
Jesus, I pray that you will make your home in my heart as I trust in you; that my roots will grow down into your love and keep me strong.

Growing in your trust of God begins when you determine where it is difficult to trust him, and then choose to give in to his care. In what area of your life do you find it hard to trust God? Where do you have trouble letting go of control—life plans? Finances? How your kids turn out? Your marriage? What fears might be behind your need for control? Write your answers to these questions on a piece of paper, pray about them, and then throw away the paper as a symbol of releasing your control and choosing to grow your trust in God.
