Broken dreams often bring feelings of hopelessness. But they are more than endings—they are important opportunities for new beginnings. You often ask Me why I’ve allowed something to happen, but instead I want you to ask Me what I am teaching you through this experience. Sadness and anger can make room for peace and joy. When your dreams are broken, you have an opportunity to build character, patience, and endurance. You also long for My presence. Allow your shattered dreams to draw you close to Me.

Consider the crucifixion and resurrection of My Son, Jesus. New beginnings come after death. Right now the death of your dream has brought hurt, pain, and grief, but if you ask Me for help, I will give you a new dream. Take time to grieve what you’ve lost, pursue healing, and then get ready for what I’m preparing you to do next. Throughout this process, I am changing you into someone more like Jesus.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
