Questions

In all my prayers, whether I get the answers I want or not, I can count on this one fact: God can make use of whatever happens. Nothing is irredeemable.

Philip Yancey

Your hardest questions do not go unnoticed by Me. You aren’t the only one who has agonized during a time of personal pain and suffering, wondering if I have turned My back on your need. My own Son, Jesus Christ, cried out on the cross, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (Matthew 27:46). I understand the depth of pain that prompted that question, and I’m aware of your anguish too. The psalmist said, “I say to God my Rock, ‘Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?’” (Psalm 42:9, NIV).

There are times when some of your questions are a sign of an unrepentant and unchanged heart—but when you come to Me humbly, believing I have your best interests in mind, I welcome your questions. You can speak honestly to Me about your distress, and I will listen. Come to Me in the midst of your own confusion and ask for My wisdom. I will lead you, in the right timing, to a place of peace—not always to the result you long for, but to the answer that will glorify My name.

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!

Psalm 42:11
