Our Mandate

Jesus made our mission abundantly clear in meeting the needs of the forgotten, unlovely, and unpopular—“the least of these.” His declaration that to serve them is to serve him is both countercultural and life-changing.

You serve Me when you meet the needs of the hungry, the poor, and the incarcerated. Look around your community and acquaint yourself with the needs of those living in poverty or behind bars. Treat these men and women with dignity and respect. They, like you, were created in My image. Study how My Son related to the weak, the helpless, and the outcasts. Care for these people as I would care for them.

Show no partiality to people based on their status in life. Take the lead, even if it isn’t popular, to help others. You will not be working alone. I will open unexpected doors of opportunity for you. Keep your eyes open and serve others in the same way My Son did. He saw the pain and the hurt in the world, and He had compassion on the people He encountered. Sometimes you need to reach out to those who are in spiritual darkness. Others are in agony due to physical sickness or mental pain. And you will always find people who are hungry and homeless. Do not be afraid to visit an inmate; provide comfort and encouragement. Do the life-changing work I have asked you to do.

I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.
