Life-changing Book

As you read, pause frequently to meditate on the meaning of what you are reading. Absorb the Word into your system by dwelling on it, pondering it, going over it again and again in your mind, considering it from many different angles, until it becomes part of you.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

I’ve noticed a refreshing change in our relationship. You used to seek advice in My Word mostly when you were hurting—either physically or emotionally. When you weren’t involved in time-consuming distractions, you would sometimes open up My book. You got better at looking for specific answers in the Bible when you were meeting with a group of other Christ-followers in a weekly study. I saw your face light up when you discovered a new truth or when a verse spoke directly to a need you were experiencing.

Now that we’ve walked together for a while and our relationship is sweeter, more intimate, more trusting, and more personal than ever before, you spend more time meditating on Scripture. That practice has transformed your thinking. You’ve been sharing My precepts with others who are looking for answers. You’ve delighted Me by memorizing verses that help you navigate the tough days. There’s a satisfying tempo in our friendship as I see you first seeking wisdom from Me before asking others for help. You’re learning the secret of inner peace—dwelling on, pondering, memorizing, and soaking in My holy Word. As our relationship continues to deepen, it brings Me joy.

I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.

Psalm 119:15-16, ESV
