Thinking Better - Habits of the Heart
Thinking Better
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.
Ephesians 4:2
Read this verse once more while thinking of someone who has recently offended you—whether they realized it or not. Today your exercise is to give them the benefit of the doubt.
For example, if another driver cut you off, could it be because they were late to something important?
Maybe they didn’t see you?
Or maybe they just had a bad day?
This may be a hard exercise if someone has intentionally hurt you. Remember that most people who try to hurt others do it because they have been hurt themselves.
This exercise is not about excusing their behavior but rather about changing the way you see and think about them.
