After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.

1 Kings 19:11-12

Practice being with the Lord in silence by breathing deeply and slowly. Pay attention to the sounds around you. What do you hear?

The quiet breathing of your napping children?

Sounds of nature?

The humming of appliances in your home?

Your heartbeat?

Thank God for the opportunity to hear those things you could have missed if you hadn’t been silent.
