Let Go To Save Your Life
Let Go to Save Your Life
If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it.
Luke 17:33
At first glance, Jesus’ words seem like a paradox. But they make sense when you think about letting something go before grasping something else.
The practice of “letting go” is releasing your grip on anything that has taken God’s place in your life. Not only does it help build trust in God, but it eventually results in true freedom.
You are free when you no longer need anyone or anything besides God for your fulfillment, satisfaction, or identity. This is what Jesus meant when he said, “The truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
The exercises this week will help you recognize and confess the attachments that make you a slave to this world so you can rebuild your trust in God alone.
Give yourself grace this week, remembering that the hard choice to “let go” is one you will need to make over and over again.
