Let Go And Rest

Let Go and Rest

On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.

Genesis 2:2-3

For many, the Sabbath has become a day to catch up on chores or prepare for the week ahead. But God wants you to focus on rest.

So why is it so important to take a day off from work?

You need a break from your normal routine in order to enjoy renewal of body, mind, and spirit and to spend time with God and his people.

Keeping Sabbath calls you to set aside one day a week to embrace rest so you have space to worship and enjoy God.

Practicing Sabbath calls you to let go of your busy life and to-do list for twenty-four hours and to trust God with the things left undone.

Since the Sabbath is only one day, the other six days of this week will involve reflection and preparation for the upcoming Sabbath.
