Less Is More

Less Is More

Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.”

Matthew 11:25

Success is often measured by how much we own and how busy our schedules are. However, God calls his followers to a different way of life—one that resists the “more is better” mentality and instead focuses on our purpose for being on this earth. The practice of simplicity is about letting go of things that clutter and complicate your life in order to keep your focus on the kind of life Jesus says is most fulfilling. Simplicity is not about getting rid of all your things but rather about experiencing freedom from being a slave to them.

This week will challenge you to practice simplicity in multiple areas: your possessions, eating habits, speech, schedules, and relationships. The areas that feel difficult to simplify are likely the areas to which you have become too attached. Allow God to help you experience freedom this week as you refocus on what really matters.
