Just Breathe
Just Breathe
How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
James 4:14
Get into a comfortable position. Allow your body to relax, and notice where you hold your tension. Close your eyes and breathe in slowly, allowing your breath to fill your lungs completely.
As you inhale, thank God for the gift of life, and for his breath that gave life to all creation. When you breathe out slowly, imagine exhaling your stress, anxiety, and tension. Do this several more times. Finish by thanking God for the gift of his life-giving breath in your lungs.
Then think about how you can slow down today to be more present with God. For the rest of this week, commit to begin each day’s devotion with this breathing exercise.
