Hide His Words In Your Heart

Hide His Words in Your Heart

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 119:11

Increased access to information through the Internet is making memorization a lost art. However, the Bible states that something important happens in your heart when you meditate and memorize God’s Word. The Lord wants you to store up his Word in your heart (Psalm 119:11), apply your heart to learning his Word (Proverbs 3:1-2), and commit yourself wholeheartedly to living by his Word (Deuteronomy 11:18). When you practice memorization through repetition and reflection, it shapes your mind and heart into a closer reflection of God’s image and character.

The exercises this week will focus on memorizing just one verse, an Old Testament prophecy of the coming Messiah. Each day has a small section of the verse to think deeply about and commit to memory. If memorizing is difficult for you, give yourself grace. It may take you longer than a week to memorize a verse, and that is okay. What you commit to memory will always be with you, regardless of whether or not Wi-Fi is available.
