Enter Into God’s Story

Enter into God’s Story

Then Jesus told this story . . .

Luke 13:6

Sometimes it is easy to fall into a routine of praying the same way until you “check out” and don’t even realize what you are praying or to whom you are talking. How can you revitalize your prayer life?

Your imagination can be a powerful tool to help you engage with God in a new way. Imaginative prayer is an active way of praying that engages your mind and heart as you imagine yourself in a scene from Scripture. In his book Prayer, Richard Foster writes, “We begin to enter the story and make it our own. We move from detached observation to active participation.”*

This week you will practice entering into Scripture with Jesus as you watch the story evolve. The instructions are the same for each day: Read the passage once, and then read it again—this time imagining yourself in the story.

Remember that your imagination is a gift from God. Ask the Holy Spirit to use this gift to deepen your relationship with Jesus as you experience him through his Word.
