I own four planters and fill each with a variety of annuals that I buy locally. Because I live in an area with limited shopping options, sometimes the only plants available look exhausted. Their blooms droop and their leaves hang limp. I transplant them into fresh soil and fertilizer, and then I give them a long, cool drink. Tender loving care transforms them into healthy flowering plants that beautify our dock.

Have difficult circumstances left you feeling like my poor plants look when I buy them? Exhausted. Droopy. Limp. Does your soul feel dry and thirsty for refreshment? If so, it’s necessary and good to press pause and bask in God’s tender care. Sit in his presence with no agenda other than to be with him. You might only have the luxury of doing so for a few minutes, but that’s okay. Spending a few minutes in quiet with him will empower and strengthen you. You will flourish again.
