Overwhelming Victory

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

Olympic athletes wow us with their skills. I particularly enjoy watching downhill ski races. Tension runs high when four professional skiers compete for the gold, especially if it’s a photo finish. Sometimes one one-hundredth of a second makes all the difference.

We’re in a race, too. Our circumstances call us to run with perseverance and never give up. That sounds exhausting if not impossible, but here’s the thing: God guarantees an overwhelming victory. We don’t drag ourselves across the finish line. Neither do we end with a photo finish. We can finish strong because Christ says so: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 nlt).

Isn’t that a beautiful promise? Christ has overcome the world, and he lives in me and you. That means we’re overcomers, too. No matter what we face, Christ in us leads us to an overwhelming victory!
