Spiritual Gifts

My Question for God

How can I make myself more available for God’s use?

A Moment with God

I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Isaiah 6:8

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. . . . In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.

1 Corinthians 12:7-9, 22

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

1 Peter 4:10

Being available to God includes the continual development of the gifts he has given you so that you will be prepared for him to use you. It involves your willingness to use those gifts to serve him in the calling he currently has for you. Do you know the unique gifts God has given you? If not, you might consider taking a spiritual-gifts assessment and ask your friends what they think your gifts are. It is important to know that God gives each individual a spiritual gift—sometimes more than one!—and a special ministry in the church where you can use those gifts to help and encourage others and to bring glory to his name. When you use these spiritual gifts, you help fulfill the purpose for which God made you. You can never use up these spiritual gifts; rather, the more you use them, the more they grow and allow you to make a unique contribution in your sphere of influence. It is a divine moment when you find the place where you can be most effective for God and when you do your best work for God in helping others.

Divine Promise

This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:6-7
