My Question for God

I think I’m kind, but what does kindness look like to God?

A Moment with God

There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor.

Acts 9:36

True kindness is not limited to a single act. It is a lifestyle. Begin showing kindness in the small things you do and say until you are truly kind in all situations.

“If you see your neighbor’s ox or sheep or goat wandering away, don’t ignore your responsibility. Take it back to its owner. . . . If you see that your neighbor’s donkey or ox has collapsed on the road, do not look the other way. Go and help your neighbor get it back on its feet!

Deuteronomy 22:1, 4

Kindness does not look the other way and ignore the needy; rather, it is attentive and sensitive in responding to the needs of others.

The people of the island were very kind to us. It was cold and rainy, so they built a fire on the shore to welcome us.

Acts 28:2-3

Kindness looks for opportunities to help when others are experiencing trouble and hardship.

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Colossians 3:13

Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.

1 Peter 3:8-9

Kindness shows forgiveness and mercy to others, even when they don’t deserve it.

John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”

Luke 3:11

Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

Hebrews 13:2

Kindness is generously sharing what you have with others and helping those who need your help even when you don’t know them.

A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.

2 Timothy 2:24

Kindness confronts and teaches others to be peace-loving and patient.

Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

Ephesians 4:29

Kindness is using encouraging, helpful words rather than foul or criticizing words.

Your acts of kindness do not need to be major, award-winning events. God sees and rewards every act of kindness.

Divine Promise

[Jesus said,] “If you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”
