God’s Timing
God’s Timing
My Question for God
What are the benefits of waiting on God’s timing?
A Moment with God
I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.
Psalm 40:1
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. . . . Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
Psalm 62:1, 5
This is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth.
Ephesians 1:10
How we hate to wait! Even trivial delays such as red lights or slow cashier lines can make us edgy, even angry. And it can be especially frustrating when God does not seem to be acting, even though we have prayed and it seems obvious that what we are praying for is right and good. It’s hard to accept that God’s timing is usually different from ours. And it’s even harder to accept that his timing is best for us, because we can’t see what’s up ahead. We want what’s best for us now. But the ability to wait quietly for something is evidence of a strong character. Waiting on God reflects the patient confidence that what he promises for your life now and in the future will come true. When you are able to wait quietly for God to act without becoming restless and agitated, you show that you fully trust his timing. As the old saying puts it, God is rarely early, but he’s never late.
Divine Promise
Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
Romans 12:12
