Denial
Denial
My Question for God
I thought denial was not a good thing. What kind of denial does God call me to?
A Moment with God
You cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.
Luke 14:33
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.
Galatians 5:24
Everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him.
Philippians 3:8-9
God calls you to exercise restraint and self-discipline in the way you live. This means you must deny any self-centered attitudes for the sake of obeying him. You must give up some things in order to prevent you from giving up on God. If asked, would you be willing to give up everything for God? He probably won’t ask you to do something that dramatic, but he loves that kind of willing attitude in his followers.
Divine Promise
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:24-25
