How does confession help me to experience God’s forgiveness?

A Moment with God

When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.

Leviticus 5:5

People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

Proverbs 28:13

Confession indicates your desire to have your sins forgiven. God often uses the feeling of guilt in your conscience to help you know it is time to apologize or confess wrongdoing. Do you feel guilty about something you have said or done to hurt another person? Perhaps God is prompting you to apologize and seek forgiveness. You should also ask God to reveal actions and thoughts that you aren’t even aware displease him. What results from confession? God removes your guilt, restores your joy and willing obedience, and heals your broken soul with his forgiving love.

Divine Promise

If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
