Seeking God
Seeking God
MY QUESTION for GOD
I feel like I’m still searching for God. How do I seek out a relationship with him?
A MOMENT with GOD
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Psalm 27:8
The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.
Psalm 145:18
Come close to God, and God will come close to you.
James 4:8
When you have a close friend, you do your best to stay in touch. You talk almost every day. You go out and do things together, or you just reminisce with each other about fond memories. It’s no different with God. A relationship with God requires effort, activity, daily contact, and building memories. When you’re seeking out a relationship with God, talk to him every day. Be open and honest, just as you would be with a close friend. Then take the time to listen. Allow a few moments each day for quality time with God. Express your concerns, talk about your future, or remember ways he’s been with you and helped you in the past. Don’t forget to ask him what he’s doing, too, both around the world and in your life. Read his Word daily to open yourself up to what he might be saying to you. Remember that God is with you all day, every day. You can talk to him about everything that comes up at home, at work, and everywhere else. Share your thoughts, needs, and concerns with him as they arise. As you get to know God by spending time with him every day, you’ll begin to find the relationship you desire. God promises that if you search for him, you will find him. You’ll wonder how you ever got along without him.
DIVINE PROMISE
If you seek him, you will find him.
1 Chronicles 28:9
