Remembering
MY QUESTION for GOD
How can remembering help me in my walk with God?
A MOMENT with GOD
You must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9
O my people, listen to my instructions. Open your ears to what I am saying, for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past—stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us. We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders.
Psalm 78:1-4
When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth.
Genesis 9:16
Remembering the past is an essential part of living in the present and the future. Life is a long journey; to live it to the fullest, you can’t afford to forget some of the important lessons you’ve learned along the way. If you do forget, you’re likely to repeat your mistakes. One way to remember important milestones and lessons of the past is to establish celebrations, anniversaries, or special times to pause and reflect on where you’ve been, who has helped you, and what God has done in your life. Try to remember the good and learn from the bad. Never forget what God has done for you. Talk about God’s faithfulness—both in your life and in the lives of others—with your friends, family, children, and grandchildren so that you build a legacy of faith for future generations to remember.
DIVINE PROMISE
If you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. James 1:25
