How do I love my neighbors?

A MOMENT with GOD

Always judge people fairly. Do not spread slanderous gossip among your people. Do not stand idly by when your neighbor’s life is threatened. I am the Lord.

Leviticus 19:15-16

Now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

If we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:39

Why did Jesus say to love your neighbor as yourself? Because God knows that our first instinct is to take care of ourselves. If we can learn to meet the needs of others in the same way we meet our own needs, then we will be fulfilling Jesus’ command. Caring for others is what loving our neighbor is all about. Every time you show love to others, you are creating a divine moment in which God is touching two hearts—theirs and yours.

It is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” James 2:8
