Discontent
Discontent
MY QUESTION for GOD
Others say I don’t seem happy anymore. What’s wrong with me?
A MOMENT with GOD
Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!
Proverbs 21:26
Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied.
Proverbs 27:20
You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
James 4:2
Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
Galatians 6:8
Deep within the human heart lurks the temptation to believe that there’s more to life than what you are experiencing—or at least there should be something more. This feeling of discontent can gradually spread until you feel generally discontent with just about everything: You don’t have enough money, your wife isn’t the soul mate you hoped she would be, your church isn’t meeting your needs, your job is less than inspiring, you can’t do everything you want to do. If your wife, friends, or coworkers have recognized discontent in you and have pointed it out, you should take the cue and reverse course. Discontent is dangerous because it causes you to focus on yourself and on what you don’t have. The antidote is to change your thinking. Whenever you find yourself thinking about what you don’t have, stop and think about all the blessings you do have instead. Focus on Jesus and how he would serve those around you, and then begin doing the same. Your discontent will turn into true satisfaction. As you make God and others happy, you will find joy yourself.
DIVINE PROMISE
If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. Matthew 16:25
