Danger

Danger

MY QUESTION for GOD

What is one danger I face as a Christian?

A MOMENT with GOD

Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.

1 John 5:21

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

1 Peter 5:8

Temptation to do wrong is one danger you face constantly. When there’s a dangerous curve in the road, there’s also usually a guardrail. The purpose of the guardrail is not to inhibit your freedom to drive but to save your life! It is an object of security and safety, not an obstacle to your driving. In the same way, you need a guardrail as you travel through life—not to inhibit your freedom but to help you avoid danger and keep from going out of control. Your heart determines where you go because it affects your passions. If you don’t guard your heart with God’s Word and stay focused on the road God has put you on, you may have a terrible accident when temptation distracts you. Satan is constantly on the attack, trying to tempt you to sin against God. And you will give in sometimes—we all do. Don’t throw caution to the wind, or you will likely give in to temptation at every turn and put yourself in danger of being completely ineffective for God. Instead, take caution so that you will be aware of temptation. Then you can recognize it, acknowledge it, and avoid it.
