Confession

MY QUESTION for GOD

Why is confession essential in my relationship with God?

A MOMENT with GOD

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

Psalm 32:5

If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

1 John 1:9

Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.

Matthew 10:32

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

James 5:16

Confession is admitting to other people or to God that you are guilty of some wrong. When you have to acknowledge the ugliness of your own sin, it can be embarrassing and even painful. Perhaps the embarrassment comes from letting others see deeply into your heart or from being vulnerable to ridicule. But confession is a necessary part of knowing God, receiving his forgiveness, being released from guilt, and finding a new start. Confession is essential to knowing God because it is only through humility that you can establish honesty and trust with him. Confession is essential to being freed from the eternal consequences of sin because it brings about God’s forgiveness. Another form of confession—when you profess your allegiance to God—is also essential in your relationship with God because it gives you the courage to stand up for your faith when it is tested. It is only through confession that you maintain an open line of communication with God, putting yourself in the position to experience divine moments with him.

DIVINE PROMISE

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
