How does God help me reach the potential he sees in me?

A MOMENT with GOD

Gideon . . . was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites. The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you! . . . Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? . . . I am the least in my entire family!”

Judges 6:11-12, 14-15

The angel of the Lord greeted Gideon by calling him a “mighty hero.” Was God talking to the right person? This was Gideon, who was hiding from his enemies, who saw himself as the least significant member of his family. But God knew the potential he had given Gideon, and he called him to use it. God calls out the best in you, and he sees more in you than you see in yourself. You may look at your limitations, but God looks at your potential. If you want to reach your full potential, learn to see yourself through God’s eyes. He sees you for what he intended you to be.
