Why is holiness important in the life of a leader?

A MOMENT with GOD

I am writing to God’s church in Corinth, to you who have been called by God to be his own holy people. He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus, just as he did for all people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours.

1 Corinthians 1:2

You were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:11

I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable.

Romans 12:1

Now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.

1 Peter 1:15

Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.

John 17:17

Think of holiness as both a journey and a final destination. To be completely holy is to be sinless, pure, and perfect before God. Of course, no one can be perfect, but that is our ultimate goal, and it will be our final destination when we stand before God in heaven. Holiness also means to be different, to be set apart by God for a specific purpose. It is much more than the absence of sin; it is the practice of righteousness, purity, and godliness. Holiness means being wholly dedicated and devoted to following God in a way that is distinct and separate from the world’s way of living. It is being committed to right living and purity. You are to be different from the rest of the world, and your life is a journey toward becoming more pure and sinless, bit by bit, with each passing day. As you make progress, you also inspire those you lead to strive toward holiness. When you strive to be holy during your earthly journey, you will one day arrive at your final destination to stand holy before God.
