MY QUESTION for GOD

Why is it important to have goals?

A MOMENT with GOD

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed.

Genesis 12:1-4

God’s goals for you should determine your personal goals and set the agenda for your life. God’s promise to Abram gave him such a strong purpose and direction that he risked everything to pursue it.

I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.

1 Corinthians 9:26-27

Goals keep you focused on your primary mission and determine how you conduct your life. They shape the way you live each day and guide your interaction with others.

I don’t have the strength to endure. I have nothing to live for.

Job 6:11

Goals give you strength and endurance and something to live for.

Either way, Christ’s love controls us.

2 Corinthians 5:14

Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

Galatians 6:9

Goals motivate us, energize us, and bring us hope.

All of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.

1 Peter 3:8-9

Goals can be rewarding when they help and bless others.

Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.

Proverbs 4:25-27

Goals keep you focused on godly pursuits so that you aren’t distracted by temptation.

I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.

John 17:4

Goals keep you from doing too much. God is glorified not when you do everything you possibly can do but rather when you fulfill the goals he has for you.

David said, “This will be the location for the Temple of the Lord God and the place of the altar for Israel’s burnt offerings!” So David gave orders to call together the foreigners living in Israel, and he assigned them the task of preparing finished stone for building the Temple of God. . . . David said, . . . “I will begin making preparations for it now.” So David collected vast amounts of building materials before his death.

1 Chronicles 22:1-2, 5

Goals that are inspired by a leader’s bold vision can help everyone accomplish great things. David’s vision for the Temple was fulfilled through the work of many people coming together to build a magnificent structure for the glory of God.

DIVINE PROMISE

I HAVE NOT ACHIEVED IT, BUT I FOCUS ON THIS ONE THING: FORGETTING THE PAST AND LOOKING FORWARD TO WHAT LIES AHEAD, I PRESS ON TO REACH THE END OF THE RACE AND RECEIVE THE HEAVENLY PRIZE FOR WHICH GOD, THROUGH CHRIST JESUS, IS CALLING US.   Philippians 3:13-14
