How is Christian fellowship different from other kinds of friendship?

A MOMENT with GOD

When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.

Romans 1:12

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

[Jesus said,] “Where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

Good friends are a wonderful gift, but fellowship among believers in Jesus (such as the kind of fellowship you find at church or in small-group ministries) is unique because it invites the living God into your midst. Christians have a common perspective on life because they know their sins have been forgiven, they have experienced the joy of salvation, and they know they have a future together in heaven. Christian fellowship provides a place for honest sharing about the things that really matter in life. It provides encouragement to stay strong in the face of temptation and persecution, and it offers supernatural help in dealing with problems. Christian leaders need Christian fellowship so they can stand strong in their convictions, lead with integrity, and be encouraged that their desire for truth will be rewarded by God.

DIVINE PROMISE

IF WE ARE LIVING IN THE LIGHT, AS GOD IS IN THE LIGHT, THEN WE HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH EACH OTHER, AND THE BLOOD OF JESUS, HIS SON, CLEANSES US FROM ALL SIN.   1 John 1:7
