Depression

Depression

MY QUESTION for GOD

When I feel depressed, what can I do to reverse the downward spiral of emotions?

A MOMENT with GOD

Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods.

1 Chronicles 16:25

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

2 Corinthians 1:4

Depression often involves a kind of self-obsession in which all you are able to see is your own problems, pain, and despair. When you withdraw into yourself this way, it becomes nearly impossible to see things clearly. In fact, it becomes nearly impossible to do anything. You can’t see outward, to the people you lead; you only look inward, to your pain and hurt. One way to deal with depression and stop the negative cycle is to start praising God for everything you can think of: his greatness, his love, all he has done for you, how valuable you are to him. It may even be helpful for you to offer comfort to others in need. Praising God will draw your focus away from yourself, and helping others will put your problems in perspective.
