Deeper Life #56

Deeper Life #56

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands.

Acts 17:24

WHERE IN THE BIBLE DO you read that you must have a long, peaceful life? Paul held to this world very lightly. With magnificent meaning, he said to the Romans,

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? . . . For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35, 38–39).

The soul that Jesus has saved and sanctified goes with a calm and unwavering tread through earth’s heartbreaks, sorrows, and joys—through death itself—with the whisperings of Christ, “Let not your heart be troubled, for I have gone before you.” Glory be to God!

Prayer Thought: Lord of life, I commit my earthly days into Your hands.

SUGGESTED READING: Acts 17:17–27
