That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
—Romans 10:9
SENTIMENTAL THEOLOGY SAYS THAT WE are saved by admiring Jesus. This makes about as much sense as saying that when the whitewashed gable of a house reflects the glory of sunlight, the sun is shining inside the house.
By voluntary sacrifice of Himself, Jesus became sin for us; He repaired the evil that Adam brought on the whole human race. Jesus became the recipient of the punishment that you and I should have received. God is satisfied with Jesus; and when we unite ourselves by faith to Jesus Christ, we find that God imputes to us His righteousness.
When Jesus saves us, He destroys the personality of sin and gives us a personality of holiness.
Prayer Thought: Lord, I am not worthy of salvation. With gratitude I will live for You.
