Deeper Life #336

The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted.

—Psalm 104:16

THE CEDARS OF LEBANON HAVE a most extraordinary power. Instead of nourishing parasites, they kill them. The life within each tree is so strong and so robust that, instead of feeding the parasites, it chokes them off.

God grant that we may get so filled with His life, and be so spiritually flourishing, that He can trust us to work among the souls of our fellow men—so that He may be able to pour His tremendous health and power through us!

Beware of working for God when you have very little Christianity yourself. And you cannot develop your own Christian life unless it exists. The advice that is too often given to Christian workers is, “If you work for God, you can develop your own Christian life.” You must learn to live with God first.

Prayer Thought: Help me to flourish like a cedar of Lebanon, so that I can be more effectively used by You.
